This impressive medal was issued on the occasion of the consistory on 23 December 1466, which saw the excommunication of George of Poděbrady, King of Bohemia, following his conversion to the Hussite creed. King George, who was a moderate and tolerant ruler, was subsequently attacked by emperor Frederick III and the Hungarian King, Matthias Corvinus, starting the Bohemian War of 1468-1478.
